From Olympias Tour to U23 Gent-Wevelgem

Olympias Tour didn't finish super well for us as on the last stage we had only two finishers. There were only 59 finishers in total as the strong winds split the field also during the last stage and the groups behind were not able to reach the finish. Our Alekss Krasts won the climbers classification and he was 37th of the stage and 35th in the GC. Madis Mihkels had a flat tire at a bad moment and he was finally 51st of the stage and 37th in the GC.

It was a perfect preparation for this Sunday's U23 Gent-Wevelgem, the first Nations Cup of this year. We will have Alekss Krasts and Pauls Rubenis competing for Latvian U23 national team and Madis Mihkels, Joonas Kurits, Erki Laanemäe and Artjom Köster will be racing in the Estonian colours.

Boys went today out to recognise the route and had a nice surprise. Tim Merlier, one of the best road sprinters in the world and winner of yesterday's World Tour classic Brugge-Panne, joined the back of our group and slipstreamed boys for some kilometers. Boys got so excited that even missed a turn. They do know all the corners now :)
